Assistive Listening Devices

Assistive Listening Devices (ALDs) are devices that help you overcome your hearing loss. The term is most often applied to personal devices that transmit, process, or amplify sound – so that distant sounds are brought directly to your ear with reduced background noise.

Hearing aids themselves are not generally considered as ALDs, but they are sometimes used in conjunction with them.  The term may also refer to alerting devices.

There are ALDs that are suitable for people with various degrees of hearing loss from profound to mild ... and even for people who don't use hearing aids at all (especially if they have difficulty with small wearable products).
